Toyota is preparing to stop selling the Innova Crysta, and the MPV is likely to be discontinued around March 2027.
Originally, Toyota had planned to end production earlier, in 2025. However, the company kept the Crysta on sale even after launching the Innova Hycross because there was still strong demand. Now, with stricter emission and fuel-efficiency rules coming, it’s becoming difficult to continue a heavy, diesel-powered MPV like the Crysta.
To meet the new CAFÉ (Corporate Average Fuel Efficiency) norms, Toyota plans to focus more on hybrid cars. Hybrids get special benefits under the rules, so they help the brand stay compliant.
The Innova Crysta has been a favourite for years — both for families and taxi operators — thanks to its space, reliability and comfort.
Currently, the Innova Crysta is sold only with a 2.4-litre diesel engine that makes 148 BHP and 343 Nm, paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. On the other hand, the Innova Hycross is petrol-only and also offers a strong-hybrid version.
