The Maruti Celerio gets 3-star rating from Global NCAP. The car scored 18.04/34 for adult safety and 18.57/49 for child safety. The tested model had 6 airbags.
In the frontal crash test, the Celerio gave:
- Good protection for the passenger’s head
- Adequate protection for the driver’s head
- Good neck protection for both
- Chest protection was weak for the driver and adequate for the passenger
Knee protection was rated marginal, and the body structure was considered unstable.
In the side impact test:
- Head and chest protection was marginal
- Abdomen protection was adequate
- Pelvis protection was good
In the side pole test, the Celerio showed:
- Good protection for the head and pelvis
- Marginal protection for the chest and abdomen
For children, the results were not very strong. The child seats could not fully prevent head movement during the frontal and side tests, and chest protection was rated poor.
Global NCAP also tested a Celerio with 2 airbags, which received a 2-star rating.
