According to sources, BMW is planning to bring the M440i xDrive Convertible to the Indian market next year. With the Z4 being discontinued globally and no immediate successor planned, the M440i Convertible will arrive in 2026 and target potential customers looking for a BMW drop-top in India.

BMW M440i Convertible Exterior Design

Based on the 2024 4 Series Coupe; the fabric roof can be operated at speeds up to 50kph, The M440i Convertible is, as expected, based on the BMW 4 Series Coupe and therefore shares similar styling elements, except for a folding fabric roof that can be opened or closed in 18 seconds at speeds up to 50kph. At the front, the M440i Convertible gets slim LED headlights with slanted DRL signatures on either side of the large kidney grilles, along with large air intakes on either side of the bumper.

19-inch alloy wheels, M badging on the fenders, and a wind deflector behind the front seats are the highlights of the M440i Convertible’s side profile, while at the rear, this drop-top features sleek LED taillights, an integrated boot lid spoiler, and a muscular rear diffuser.

BMW M440i Convertible Interior and Features

14.9-inch curved touchscreen dominates the dashboard. Inside, the M440i Convertible seats four people and features a clean and uncluttered dashboard layout. A 14.9-inch curved infotainment touchscreen sits in the center, flanked by a digital driver display on the right and a three-spoke flat-bottom M-spec steering wheel.

The M440i Convertible also boasts features such as a 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, wireless charging pad, head-up display, tire pressure monitoring system, powered sports seats with memory function, automatic climate control, ambient lighting, and much more.

BMW M440i Convertible Powertrain and Performance

Same 3.0-liter straight-six engine as the M340i. Under the hood, the M440i Convertible is powered by the same ‘B58’ 3.0-liter turbocharged straight-six engine as the BMW M340i sedan, producing 374hp and 500Nm of torque. This powerplant is mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox that sends power to all four wheels, allowing the M440i Convertible to accelerate from 0-100kph in 4.9 seconds, with an electronically limited top speed of 250kph.
