The mid-size SUV segment in India is about to become even more exciting. Car companies are preparing several new launches, including hybrid SUVs, electric models, and next-generation updates of popular vehicles. From the new Hyundai Creta to the upcoming Renault Duster Hybrid and Mahindra XUV7XO Hybrid, buyers will soon have many more options to choose from.
Hyundai is already working on the next-generation Creta, which is expected to arrive around 2027. Test vehicles have already been spotted, and reports suggest that Hyundai may also introduce a hybrid version of the SUV to stay competitive in the growing hybrid market. Since the Creta is already one of India’s best-selling SUVs, Hyundai is likely to add more premium features, updated styling, and better technology in the new model.
Kia is also preparing a hybrid version of the Seltos. The company recently launched the new-generation Seltos, but testing of another version has already started. International markets are expected to get a 1.6-litre hybrid setup, while India could receive a localized hybrid system based on the existing 1.5-litre petrol engine. This move will help Kia attract buyers looking for better fuel efficiency without switching fully to electric vehicles.

Renault is planning a strong comeback with the new Duster Hybrid. The new-generation Duster has already created excitement among SUV fans, especially because the older Duster was once one of the most popular SUVs in India. The upcoming hybrid version is expected to use Renault’s E-Tech hybrid technology with a 1.8-litre petrol engine and electric motor combination. Reports suggest that bookings for the first production batch were received quickly, showing strong interest from buyers.
Nissan is also entering this space with the upcoming Tekton SUV. It will share its platform and engine options with the new Renault Duster but will get a completely different design inspired by larger Nissan SUVs. The Tekton is expected to feature modern styling, premium interiors, and multiple engine choices, including hybrid options.
Mahindra is preparing a hybrid version of the XUV7XO as well. The SUV already performs strongly in the segment, and the company is now working on advanced hybrid technology to improve fuel efficiency and performance. While official details are still limited, Mahindra is believed to be developing strong hybrid and plug-in hybrid systems for future SUVs.
Toyota is expected to bring the Land Cruiser FJ, often called the “Baby Land Cruiser,” to India too. This SUV will offer rugged styling, premium appeal, and off-road capability in a more compact package. It could become an interesting option for buyers looking for a lifestyle SUV with a strong road presence.

Overall, the Indian mid-size SUV market is set for major changes in the coming years. With hybrid, electric, and updated petrol SUVs arriving from almost every major brand, buyers can expect better technology, improved efficiency, and many more choices than ever before.
