Hyundai Motor now has its eyes on the global electric four-wheeler market. The company is preparing to begin 2026 with a major electric vehicle launch, as it plans to unveil its biggest EV yet at the Brussels Motor Show, which will take place from January 9 to 18. This new electric model will sit at the top of Hyundai’s EV lineup, which currently ranges from compact electric cars to the flagship Ioniq 9.
Although the technical specifications are still under wraps, Hyundai has confirmed that the upcoming EV will use an advanced electric architecture. It will feature an 800V charging system designed for faster charging and better efficiency. Along with this debut, Hyundai will also showcase the updated Ioniq 6, which will appear for the first time at a European motor show. The refreshed electric sedan gets design improvements focused on aerodynamics, along with updated interior technology and digital features.

Hyundai is testing the new Verna
Hyundai has also started testing the facelift version of its premium Verna sedan. The car was recently spotted once again, this time on roads in South Korea. A few weeks earlier, camouflaged prototypes were also seen testing in India. The new spy photos give a clearer idea of the refreshed styling and hint at the updates Hyundai is preparing ahead of its launch, expected either at the end of 2025 or the beginning of 2026.
The test mule also revealed a new D-cut steering wheel with a slim, modern design inspired by Hyundai’s latest models. These upgrades are expected to make the Verna’s cabin feel more premium and futuristic. Testing in both India and South Korea suggests that development is already at an advanced stage. In the latest images, a red Verna prototype can be seen heavily camouflaged at the front and rear, while the side profile remains mostly uncovered.
The 4th-generation Verna
The 4th-generation Verna is already one of the safest sedans in India, with a 5-star Global NCAP rating for both adult and child safety. For the 2026 facelift, Hyundai is expected to upgrade the Level 2 ADAS suite. Similar to newer Hyundai models, sensors and software may be enhanced for better accuracy. Current ADAS features include forward collision avoidance, blind-spot monitoring, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, smart cruise control with stop-and-go, rear cross-traffic avoidance, and driver attention warning.
There will likely be no changes to the Verna’s powertrain options. The car will continue to offer a 1.5-litre MPi petrol engine (115 PS / 143.8 Nm) with 6-speed manual or IVT transmission, and a 1.5-litre turbo GDi petrol engine (160 PS / 253 Nm) with a 6-speed manual or 7-speed DCT gearbox.
